Úryvek

"Poe also tried to find some of his real relatives and in Baltimore he found his father’s mother, Edgar’s grandmother. She was very old lady, living with her daughter Mrs. Clemm and Mrs. Clemm daughter Virginia. Poe started to love these people very much, they were his new loving family. At first Poe did nnot want to burden them by his life situation, but after many years of living alone, he was happy with them. And he tried to do everything to help the family, but he did not find any work, so he sit at home and continued in writing. Poe started to visit some meetings in rich people’s houses, to tried get some contact with them. He read there his poems and he hoped that they would notice him. But this was the slowly way of getting famous. So Poe tried to put his stories to newspapers. One of the newspapers which published Poe’s poems was called Southern Literary Messenger. After some time, the owner of this magazine asked Poe to work for him and Poe started to work as a literar critic. The greatest article which Poe wrote was about writers and the art of writing. The owner of Southern Literary Messenger wanted Poe to help to publish the newspapers in Richmond. The pay he recieved for his work was quite small, but at that time Poe had no money at all, so it looked large to him. Because of working in this magazin, he could choose what they would publish and what not. And often he chose his own work. He made the magazine and of course himself, knowen all over the nation. His writings as a critic were also well known. He didi not like every writer, he carefuly choose about what he will write good critic, but if he did not like a book, a story or a poem he cutr it and the writer into pieces with his words. And because of this he acquired a few good friends, but he also acquired many enemies. Many people thought, that he was unfriendly and cruel. But at home, with Mrs. Clemm and Virginia, he was a sweet and loving man, who never failed to consider carefully the feelings of those around him. But Poe really felt, that he was a better writer than most of the others. He considered himself a proper judge of art of writtings and he thought that other writers have to listen him."
