Plot:

Sherlock Holmes and his friend Mr. Watson studied crime. A rich man Charles MC Carthy was dead. He died near Boscombe Pool, hit on the head with something heavy. The police didn’t know who killed him. So Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Watson arrived to the west of England to help with this case. They knew some facts from London’s newspapers. They knew that Charles MC Carthy had an important meeting at 3 o’clock so he went to Boscombe Pool, but he never came back, because he was killed. Two witnesses saw him go to Boscombe Pool. They were manservant of Mr. Turner – William Crowder, who saw James went the same way with a gun under his arm and small girl Patience Moran. She heard a quarrel between father and son. Then his son James went to help to Patience’s partners. The police held James for questioning. There he said that he had heard some word like “rat” from father’s mouth.
Everything pointed to the fact that James was guilty, but Homes had different opinion. Miss Turner, the daughter of old Mr. Turner believed that James was innocent. Holmes went to Boscombe Pool and studied a place of murder. There he found out some information about the murderer. He was probably a tall man, left-handed with bad right leg, he wore thick shooting boots and grey coat, used a cigar-holder. So these were facts which Sherlock knew. He found out that the murderer was old Mr. Turner. The word which young James heard was Ballarat no only rat..."
